“Big Data” involves delivering data-driven insights using robust high-scale computing systems to analyze large volumes of both structured and unstructured data. As the US healthcare system continues to undergo a major transformation initiated by healthcare reform, data will become critical for understanding the “who, what, where, why and how” of actually improving outcomes while reducing cost and variability. Studies show that 90% of healthcare data is not coded or structured but is in the form of clinical narrative (encounter notes, procedure notes, images, etc.). Significantly Improve Your Medicare Advantage Reimbursement : Using Intelligent Analysis of the Clinical Record

Medicare Advantage (MA) plans and providers spend much time, effort and resources on activities to properly risk adjust for beneficiaries given their burden of chronic disease. Many organizations audit MA beneficiary medical charts to avoid missing coding opportunities during each HCC reporting year. This may cost anywhere from $30 to $50 or more per chart.
